Set of 2 Antique Grindley Ironstone Butter Pats - England
SKU: 25-24
Two W. H. Grindley English Ironstone Butter Pats. Teal makers mark on both. Circa 1850s - 1920 Did you know these are also called butter chips or butters? They are exactly what they say they are, little dishes for pats of butter. They had their hay day from about 1850 to 1920, though some restaurants and railroads were still using them well into the 1950s and 60s. These little beauties have become quite the collectible! 3 1/4" diameter, some staining, one is chipped and has more discoloration than the other - priced accordingly.
