Antique Ironstone "Stone China" Pottery Scalloped Rim Bowl

SKU: 25-20

This charming antique scalloped rim bowl, marked by The Potter's Co-operative Co. (T.P.C. Co.) of East Liverpool, Ohio, was formed in 1882 when several potteries merged and acquired the Dresden Pottery Works. This mark was used used between 1882 and 1895—a true piece of history. The design incorporates a variation of the British Royal Arms, featuring a lion, a unicorn, and the motto "Dieu et mon droit".  The French phrase translates to "God and my right" which is the motto of the British monarch and appears on the United Kingdom's coat of arms. In 1198, at the battle of Gisors, Richard I the Lionhart of England used this phrase as a battle cry to assert his personal, divine-sanctioned claim to France.  The story goes on but I've probaby lost most of you already!  Though stained, it has no chips or cracks.  Add this charming piece of history to your ironstone collection!  7 7/8" wide, 2 7/8" tall  No chips, no cracks, no crazing - excellent condition
